So you want to know about me?

My primary interest in creating a blog is to teach myself more about HTML coding and web design. I have always been interested in technology, and web coding seemed like a good place to start. To that end, I am writing all the HTML myself, and working on learning JavaScript.

My secondary reason for starting this blog is to hopefully cataloge all of the wine my Partner in Wine and I drink! One Christmas I gave him a small journal repurposed as a ":Wine Diary", and since then we try to remember to write down our impressions of wines we taste either at events, wine tastings, dinners out, or at home. In the end, I hope this blog will be a tool to help us remember what we've tried in the past so we can buy it again!

As for my background, I didn't always love wine, but I always loved food. After graduating from University of Oregon, I completed a Certificate of Patisserie and Baking at the Western Culinary Institute in Portland, OR. Part of all courses of study at the WCI indcluded a 6 week internship; I decided to indulge my love for Armistead Maupin's Tales of the City novels, and went to San Francisco. Like so many people, I became infected with the energy and life here, and decided to stay, although I much prefer living in Oakland. I continue to work in the food industry, having been a dish washer, barista, prep and short order cook, wedding cake maker, and chocolatier, although now I have a cushy office job. I like sitting down.

My new proximity to the celebrated California wine country meant that I could live that golden dream of visiting Napa Valley tasting rooms and sipping from the first crush of life. In reality, wine tasting is expensive! However, I quickly learned there are many different ways to enjoy all this land has to offer.
